chipboard tree tutorial
I hope you enjoy this tutorial. I decided to show you how to make the trees I created. They are fun to create and they look very cute. You can use them on cards or in scrapbooks.
First cut out your trunk shape from heavy chipboard. I made a pattern to use but you can create your own. Make it as simple or complex as you want.
Next ink the edges. This gives it more colour even after you paint it. Colour the dges with a brown marker. I used a stampin write chocolate chip marker and close to cocoa ink.
Paint the entire piece with your favourite colour of distress crackle paint. I used antique linen. Use a medium thickness depending on how big you want the cracks. Set aside to dry.
See how the swirl makes it look wintery and more tree like.
Next ink the edges however you want. I like to use a colour similar to the paper.
Your tree trunk should be almost dry by now. Plan out how you want to arrange your embelishments and then glue it all together. This was my first attempt at a winter tree (I know it shouldnt have leaves but its sposta look like snow) Spring summer and fall trees can be created too just with different colours.
This step is optional but if you want your tree leaves to have extra texture try using a cuttlebug embossing folder. I like the d'vine swirl for the tree but any of them would look great.
Try using ripped leaves or small punches to add intrest to your trees. To find examples of my other tree creations go to:

postage
I am really trying to get into more of the travel/postage type of distressed scrapbooking. We are going on a family cruise this winter and I am really looking forward to all the beautiful picture oppurtunities. Also I am going on the school trip to New York City on spring break. In all my life I have never left Canada and this year I will do it twice! wow!
This is just a chipboard square I was playing with. It could be made into a heavy card or I could use it on a layout. I was just playing with my new postage backgrounder and this thing was born! haha It kinda just took over on its own...
- ink- choc. chip, creamy carmel, old olive, tea dye distress ink

travel
Woo yay for Friday! We had a short 3 day week but it felt so long. Hopefully I will actually get to scrapbook something this weekend instead of all these cards but no promises. (not that I dont love cards! they are quicker and easier to give away)
I have been playing with my cuttlebug alot and there are some pretty cool ink techniques you can do. Here is an example of how you can ink over the impression after it is embossed. It also looks neet if you ink the actual embossing folder and then roll it through the cuttlebug.
- ink- tea dye distress ink, old olive, choc. chip, black
- paper- kiwi kiss, baja breeze, very vanilla
- stamps- postage background
- other- cuttlebug
