New York 2009 - Mini Book

This mini book is all about my New York trip! I have already scrapbooked a bunch of these pictures and some pages are even mini versions of the full size ones! I included my very favourite pictures although there are so many great ones left.
I made this album to fit into a Prima flower tin. Easy storage and it is portable. I took this on my trip to Manitoba to share with my family.
The Lawn and eating a pretzel im Central Park.
Times Square and some Andy Warhol paintings at the Museum of Modern Art.

Pictures from "this city never stops" layout.

At the Stature of Liberty.

On the subway platform and a picture of the Flat Iron building. (it was very close to our hotel)

China Town and a view from the top of the Empire State Building.

Cruise layout 10 - Roatan

Although our cruise was back in January I am still steadily working away on my layouts. Here is the most recent.
I added the stamped border to make the design more square.
The paper on the chipaboard was hand inked. I crunched it up, inked it with tea dye, and misted it with a water and ink solution.
I really love my new ticket stamps! I think I will get alot of use from them!

Supply List:

  • ink- tea dye distress ink, chocolate chip, black, close to cocoa
  • paper- old olive, very vanilla, blue bayou, baja breeze, making memories passport, basic grey archaic
  • stamps- inkadinkado tickets, inkadinkado beach, tin box creations border
  • other- chipboard letters, SU brads, clear ep, sewing machine

recycled food box

I made this project for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. The challenge was to alter a recycled item. This is a Wok Box food container I got from the restaurant. I painted it black to cover all the writing but left the top white. I traced the side of the box onto black paper and cut it smaller so it would have room for the green mat.
The black paper was embossed using the distressed stripes embossing folder. The tag I used is off a pillowcase I think. This project matches a card I recently posted.

I inked the white part of the box with green and the "create" word is a rub-on.

you wise bird

I made this card using the mojo monday sketch. It is for my dad's birthday comming up this week. The "old" bird stamp was a bit mean so I decided to make it more lighthearted by adding the "wise" instead. I did this by colouring individual letters from another sentiment in the same set.
Here is a closeup of the frame. I filled it in with glossy accents and I like how it turned out. The colours did bleed a bit but atleast you can still read it.

I used a brush and ink to watercolour the owl image. The red background pattern paper is a piece from the Glitz Design Rebel collection.

going green

This card was quick to put together. I already had alot of the elmeblishments made including the tickets, tree and tree background. I like the bold look of black and bright green. This card doesn't really mean anything deep (unless you can think of somthing) It is just random elements such as tickets, a barcode and some nature. I guess it could be a bold statement of going green vs. synthetic.
I have a new layout to share and of course my NY mini album! Hopefully these will be comming very soon!

glossy bird

I didn't get to post while I was away (as I'm sure you can see) haha but I have a quick post now. Our trip was very good. We did all the usual things we usually do in Manitoba and we had a long boring drive! Also usual... I shall share some pictures soon. Before we left I was experimenting with my new glossy accents. Love the stuff so far. I stamped this bird on some chipboard, watercoloured it with ink and then put some glossy accents on it. pretty cute I think.

Cuttlebug Challenge

The cuttlebug challenge was to use woodsy animals and outdoor items. Also the colour combo was blue, green and orange. I quite like how this project turned out.
I started with a brown paper lunch bag and rolled the top down. I then cut 3 small boxes to the right size to fit inside. The branches were cut off our rosebush and I stuck then into strofoam. I shredded some paper in the shredder and then scrunched it up to hide the foam.
It is hard to see in the photo but I used the distressed stripes folder on the dark brown circle. The little blue and green leaves were also cut from a cuttlebug die. I stamped my owl on chipboard, coloured him in with ink and crackle paint and then put a coat of glossy accents on him. His eyes are bling gems!
Here is a view of the shredded paper.
Tomorrow we will be leaving for Manitoba to visit family. Hopefully I will get to post while we are there but it could be a few days. Luckily I have some exciting new projects to share! Also when I get back I will have a new mini album to post! YAY!

Taylor Swift Concert!

First of all: Taylor Swift put on the BEST concert I have ever seen! It was incredible! I loved how she acted out all her songs and did amazing costume changes! Here is the front of the T-shirt I made. I designed the image on the computer using my favourite pieces of my favourite songs. I printed it off on special iron on paper transfer stuff.
This is the image I designed for the back. I put it in the bottom corner and I must say, it looks pretty pro :) I scanned my actual concert ticket to put on! We were in row one right behind the boards, just off the floor and super close to the stage
This is what Taylor wore for her Love Story performance. Very cool!
this is her when she went into the crowd! She was taking pictures with people and giving out hugs! So awesome!

Here is the four of us all in our spiffy shirts! Dont we look great!?

Yesterday night our family and cousins went to the chuckwagon races, grandstand show and fireworks at the Stampede. It was awesome. Today we are going on rides and then tomorrow is the Taylor Swift concert. My friend and I made t-shirts that I will have to share soon.

Happy Canada Day!

Summer has officially began! Happy Canada Day! July already, wow.Well I know there are not many maple leaf trees in many parts of Canada (including here in Alberta) but it is just such a Canadian symbol. I used a cuttlebug die to cut out the maple leaves. Some were cut from a photo. I also used buttons and flowers for foliage.
