Tim Holtz style tag

I am pretty excited about this tag! It was about 20 degrees celcius the last 2 days but now it is snowing again! Since 1pm today we have got about 2cm of snow. It is so sad. Hopefully this project will bring anyone else who is still seeing white a bit of spring hope :)
I really love the grungeboard letters! Crackle paint sticks so well to them! I never fully tested this until today when I had to rip some glue dots off the back of my letters. It took alot of effort to get the glue off but the paint never fell off. To get the blueish tinge I sprayed some of my dyed mist onto a sponge and dabbed it on.
I was very excited to try a new mask technique! Well the technique is not new but the mask is. I made it! yes WOW. And for a first try it was quite sucessful! The only bad thing was that I put on to much mist so it soaked into the paper and under the mask. You can still see the image though because of all the inking.
This is how I made my own mask
1. Find a picture online that you want to make a mask of. Try searching silhouette in google images. When you find a picture change it to the size you want using Word and then print it.
2. Trace the outline onto some clear or light coloured macktack. I did this against a window or you could use a tracing light box. Use a permanent pen that will not smear off.
3. Carefully cut out the design with scissors or a craft knife. Your mask is ready to use! To store for later use I put mine in a sticker book.
See all the neat textures? Pretty cool. I also did alot of stamping and inking along with my misting :) The wire is a cool addition too.
Supply List:
  • ink- tea dye distress ink, chocolate chip, creamy caramel, close to cocoa, food dye
  • paper- very vanilla, light chipboard, dark brown
  • stamps- canvas SU, collage press office policy, gel-a-tins wild things
  • other- grungeboard, antique linen crackle paint, bronze wire, edge distresser, ribbon, spray bottle

a sweet teacher card

This would make a cute end of the year teacher card. I really like this quote. I just printed it off on cardstock and cut it out.
I drew the pencil and outlined it in marker. I took a paint brush, rubbed it on an ink pad, dipped the tip in water and tested it. Then I coloured the pencil, cut it out and glued it to chipboard. I used embroidery floss for the stiching.

Emboss Resist

This travel card shows a 2 examples of the emboss resist technique. The first is on the palm tree and the second is the background.
For the palm tree I stamped it in clear embossing ink and then clear heat embossed it. I then rubbed the close to cocoa ink over it lightly and blended it with a baby wipe. **Be carful not to rub to much or the paper will start to peel**
For the background I first stamped it with the french script in close to cocoa ink. Then I distressed the edges and stamped the postage background and clear embossed it. Then I made a water/food dye solution and put it in a spritzer bottle. Last, I lightly sprayed the paper and dabbed off any extra colour from the embossed areas. This technique is very fun to experiment with and looks super cool.
Supply list:
  • ink- close to cocoa, embossing ink, tea dye distress ink, blue and green food dye
  • paper- very vanilla, chocolate chip, creamy caramel, blue bayou, baja breeze
  • stamps- postage background, french script, inkadinadoo travel
  • other- clear embossing powder, embroidery floss, staples, ribbon, scalloped scissors

Cruise layout 9 - sail and snorkel

Hey! Wow I have been pretty busy lately... I have a few posts ready though! I'm of course still scrapping our Dec/Jan cruise and I will be for a while. I have exciting news though! On April 9th I am going to NEW YORK CITY! It is our school trip this year and I am going with one of my best buddies! It will be very fun :) These are some pretty candid photos taken with a water camera. Notice the top one has a huge streak on one half? It still looks good though, kinda adds to the excitement.
This was in Key West. I was a bit sea sick on the catamaran on the way back but the snorkeling was very cool.
Here is a cute little stamp from inkadinkado. I love this neeto paper from Senic Route (I think this is the backside)
I got a 12x12 sheet of these tags and they are very versatile. Sadly I do not know the company because it got cut off.... hehe. OH! and I lost my marker that was the right colour for journaling this page so it is not quite complete yet... sigh
As usual, my amazing cuttlebug letters :)
Supply list:
  • ink- tea dye distress ink
  • stamps- vacation from inkadinkado
  • paper- blue bayou, baja breeze, ridinghood red, senic route, tag
  • other- ribbon, CM circle cutter, cuttlebug
