Emerald Creek Winter Wishes Christmas Polka Tag

I have been getting in the Christmas spirit for about a month now, as it is my very favourite time of year! I am so happy that it is now socially acceptable to put up the tree and blast the holiday tunes. I am looking forward to getting a Christmas tree this weekend and we just decorated everything at work too!

Today I am sharing a project for Emerald Creek! This month's challenge is "Winter Wishes", which I think leaves it very open to interpretation! Just for entering a project on the Emerald Creek Dares blog, you will receive a discount in the store! You will also have the chance to win $50 to the store! Get your project in before the end of the month for your chance to win!

The tag I created really embodies the traditional Christmas vibe for me. I loved using my new Christmas Polka Stamp on the background with the beautiful Champagne powder. From there, it all came together quite well. I hope you enjoy the process video below and be sure to check out the other talented design team member's posts: Sara, Deb, Pam, and Cassandra.

Live Inspired Interview by Tracie Claiborne

Today one of my dreams came true. Ever since I started listening to the Scrap Gals and the Live Inspired podcasts, I have thought about what it would be like to be interviewed or to share my ideas with a larger audience online. Today I did just that and got to hear my own voice being interviewed by the incredible Tracie Claiborne!

If you would like to listen to me discuss our new business, Wild Whisper, and talk about my thoughts on December Daily, then look no further! You can listen by clicking play on the widget below, or by following this link.

I am so grateful to Tracie for having me on her show! It was just a fun time and she was so easy to talk to.

Unfortunately Suzy couldn't be part of the interview this time, but if you would like to hear from both of us, you should also check out this video that we posted on Wild Whisper's YouTube channel. Don't forget to subscribe to us there too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this helped you to get to know Wild Whisper a little bit better. I would also like to remember all of those who have served or are serving our country today. This Remembrance Day, I am especially thankful to live in a country where people have fought to keep our freedom and let our voices be heard.

Wonder Woman Hero Layout for Emerald Creek Design Team

Today I am sharing my latest project for Emerald Creek Dares. The challenge was to incorporate a hero theme, but for the contest it is an "anything goes" month, which makes it super easy to enter! Please check it out for your chance to win $50 to the Emerald Creek Shop!

This one was a bit of a challenge for me, but once I had an idea, the project came together quite easily! I love watching all of the superhero movies and learning about the characters, but I also love real-life heroes. I wanted to combine these two ideas in my project and the result is a scrapbook page comparing my mom to Wonder Woman! It really isn't much of a stretch! I had a ton of fun creating this page with a giant shaker window and I hope you enjoy seeing it all come together in the process video!

Washi Tape Tuesday: Die Cut Embellishments

My  apologies for not having any videos last week, but the good news is that I have two new ones for this week! Here is the second video in my washi tape series and it is all about die cutting your own washi embellishments. I hope that you enjoy this technique and check back soon to see how I use these pieces. On Thursday I will be sharing my next Emerald Creek DT project.

I think the "remember" die cut would be really cute on a planner spread. I will probably use the leaves for a card of some kind and the frames would work great on a layout or a card. These kind of embellishments are a great way to stretch your dies and use them in new ways. It is also a fun way to use washi in a way that is much more non-traditional.
I love how these rainbow leaves turned out! It would also be cute to cut out several in monochromatic washi patterns. To check out some other great starter ideas for using washi on layouts, watch the series intro here. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have had a wonderful summer. I am actually looking forward to the slower pace that fall will bring and I also can't wait to dive into my scarf collection again!

Scrapbooking Motivation and Validation inspired by The Scrap Gals

Hello all! In this video I am discussing a deeper conversation about scrapbooking - my motivation and validation. This includes some of the reasons why I scrapbook, what motivates me to do it, and what makes me feel validated in doing it. If you would like to join in on the conversation, please comment below or check out The Scrap Gals Facebook page. Click here to listen to the "Motivation & Validation" podcast that I was inspired by.

As I mentioned in the video, this is not a sponsored video or post, but I just really love this podcast and the community as they continually inspire me to think deeper about scrapbooking. If you enjoyed this topic please let me know, as I have several other "deeper" crafty topics i would like to discuss! Thank you for stopping by today!

Washi Tape Tuesday: Layout Ideas and my Washi Collection

I had a great response to my idea of creating a washi tape series, so I jumped on it right away! Please feel free to leave me a comment letting me know if you have any other project ideas, as I would love to try to incorporate those too. I plan to do a video for this series about once a week (typically on Tuesdays) until I get bored or run out of ideas. In this video I share several of my recent layouts that use washi in different ways and I also show my tape collection and storage system. I hope that you enjoy!

Check out this site where I have ordered washi before. They have some very inexpensive rolls with nice designs. If you are interested in seeing my "For You" layout process, check it out here. thank you for stopping by today! I hope you are as excited for this series as I am!

DIY Traveler's Notebook Insert Tutorial

I hope that you enjoy this traveler's notebook insert tutorial! I decorated this one for my husband as a gift for our upcoming anniversary and I plan to document daily reminders of why I love him and am grateful for him. There are limitless possibilities for these notebooks. People use them for planning, documenting photos, journaling, ect. The original ones are made by Midori and they can be placed in leather or fabric covers too. In the video below I will show you how to create this notebook using a simple binding technique with an optional bookmark feature.

Notebook Insert Sizes:
  • Regular: 210 mm H x 110 mm W (8.27" x 4.33")
  • Passport: 124 mm H x 89 mm W (4.88" x 3.50")

Here is another notebook insert that I created to use as a daily journal. I have filled the whole thing up with writing already, so I need to create another one soon! A tab is a good feature to add to the cover's edge if you have several inserts in your notebook cover.
I hope that you have enjoyed seeing this tutorial! I am just starting to get into these little books, but they have been a big fad for quite awhile now. If you would like more information on the original Midori notebook inserts and covers, check out this link. Thank you for stopping by today!

Project Life: April is Finally Complete!

Hello and happy Friday! I am currently away this weekend camping and I am so excited! I hope you are all up to something fun too. Today I am sharing the end of my April Project Life, finally! I hope you enjoy and stick around for the page process and wild animal video footage at the end too. To see more of my album, check out the Project Life Playlist.

The process video for these pages will soon be embedded, but for now you can view it here!

These pages were a lot of fun to work on and I think it is because I really love the photos. That usually makes it easier! I am quite happy with how they turned out too and I think it is because I made them coordinate. I am pretty excited to move on to more recent events and I especially can't wait to document this summer. Where are you at with your project life? I would love to hear all about it! Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend.
