My First Pocket Letter Swap

Here is this week's big news- brace yourself. I have found pocket letters! Yes, these have been around for awhile now, but being in school really blinds you from the world sometimes. Anyway, my first swap partner is a lady who lives in Australia named Sabrina! I just dropped it in the mail today and I am so excited to receive hers too! I hope you like your letter Sabrina! There is a walk through video on my Youtube channel which you can see at the end of this post.

I had such a fun time making this project and I hope that Sabrina likes it. I mentioned in the video that I am looking for a couple other swap partners, so if you are interested please email me at heather.ulmer8@gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by today!

Thoughts & Updates

Hello all. I have many random thoughts and updates to share today, but I thought I would start with this lovely sunrise photo that I snapped in our front yard the other day. The snow is so lovely and sparkly!

I have been so busy putting my energy into creating things lately that I have not shared very much. Sometimes I feel like I am making stuff only for the purpose of having something to post on my blog or make a video about, so this has actually been quite refreshing for me. Sometimes uploading photos and blogging can be quite the task, never mind recording, editing, and uploading videos. I truly enjoy those things, but lately I just wanted to cut up paper and glue stuff together. Does anyone else ever feel like this?

I have certainly taken MUCH longer breaks from my blog and Youtube, but I feel a commitment now because I have been much more involved for the past several months. I really want to spend time on these things and continue to improve my content. I enjoy writing and I hope to find the motivation to start sharing more meaningful blog posts about what is going on in my life and my head. Please let me know if you have any project or video requests, because I always enjoy your suggestions!

As far as upcoming projects, I do have a lot in my head already! I am excited to announce that I will be starting monthly project life this year! I have not yet decided what size of album I will be using, but I will certainly share more information soon. I plan to start documenting January in early February and work about a month behind at a time. I have recently completed my honeymoon album, which I previously shared part of here, and this means I will be moving on to my wedding album soon!

I have been dabbling with the idea of creating online classes for some time now, but there is such a learning curve on all of this technology. I have been doing some research about how to go about doing this, but I have still been taking it pretty slow. I think that by putting it out in the interweb universe for everyone to see, I will feel more motivated to achieve this goal. To add to this random thought, I also want to build my following on Youtube so that I can spread inspiration to more people. I have noticed that my mixed media work seems to be more popular on my channel than anything else, but my main passion right now is memory keeping. I hope to attract other memory keeper fans so that I can continue to develop that content. I do plan to continue creating in many mediums, so don’t worry, the mixed media stuff will still be coming. If you have not yet subscribed to my channel, please feel free to do so here!

I hope that you found this update useful! I have had a lot of ideas running through my mind lately, so it feels good to get some of them into written form! As always, thank you for stopping by today.

Friendship Mini Album

Happy Friday morning to you all! This week has been so busy, yet so uneventful at the same time. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I just feel like I have had so much going on in the day while working at home, but I haven't actually had any "events" that I had to go to. It has flown by!

Today I am sharing this tiny album that I created for my friend who has moved to Australia. I made this mid December so that I could give it to her before she left. There will be a video flip-through at the end of this post where I also share a couple tips for speeding up the process of making this simple mini.
I kept the cover (and the rest of the album) very simple. Here I used an Australia piece from an older Kaisercraft cut-apart sheet.
The album is sized 4x6, so to include larger photos, I printed them at a maximum width of 8", cut them in half, and attached them right into the binding. This works best when someone's face (or an important object) is not right in the middle of the photograph.
I kept the embellishments to a minimum and used my date stamp A LOT!
I created this folded pocket page (which is easier to understand in the video) and made these two inserts to add interest and more photo real estate.
Interesting story idea: I included some pictures from my wedding day that my friend was not able to be at. The story is about how I missed her, but felt that she was there in spirit. I related it to how I feel now with her about as many miles away from us as she could possibly get, yet I still feel that she will always be a close friend.
Because I was feeling sentimental, I added the words "enjoy the journey, this is only the beginning" because I know that she has so many more adventures to come and she won't be away forever.
Thank you for stopping by today! Please also check out the video below and I hope you have a great weekend!

Christmas Cards of 2015

I am the least organized card-giver ever... I hand delivered some of these before Christmas (that is generally the goal! duh..), but many were not sent out in the mail until Christmas Eve, so they of course arrived just after Christmas. I had intended to deliver the rest to my family in another province when we went to visit between Christmas and New Years, but the cards got LEFT BEHIND in the chaos! I actually didn't get around to mailing them until yesterday (January 10th, oh dear!), but hopefully my family will forgive me.

Here are a few of my favourites that I made using my free whimsical printable. I coloured these using Copic markers and many of them are shaker cards too! Check out the video at the end of this post to see all of the cards I created this year!

Don't forget to check out the video! You will also get a good look of the shaker cards in action! I have never made these before and I love how they turned out! Thanks for stopping by today.

Layout Share: Episode Two Pocket Scrapbooking Edition

Today I am sharing what I have completed so far for my honeymoon album. I decided to use the pocket scrapbooking approach for these photos because I really wanted to get back into it and there are just sooo many photos to document. It turns out I really love pocket scrapbooking! I recently did my December Daily using the 6x8 pocket page format, but I actually started this album in the fall, so it was my first taste of getting back into it. I hope you check out the video and enjoy this picture heavy post (yes, AGAIN! But I'm sharing 15 layouts, so it was bound to happen).

You may also notice that these pictures are bigger than in previous posts. I widened the main column of my blog to accommodate this as I think it has a better aesthetic. What do you think of the new format?

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
